CEO Elon Musk last year called the site a “gigantic money furnace” as the electric-vehicles maker struggled to keep a lid on its stock. “I thought it was a great site to start for you,” said Musk, who joined Tesla on a similar mission. (Musk himself has said he’s “looking to see what the hell is going on” in the past.)
After being a regular feature presence on Twitter in late 2016, Musk began tweeting about the Tesla Model Y as well as other Tesla devices. In late 2016, he created an account in which he posted an image of a Tesla Model Y, which he sold in June of this year. Musk’s account has since been rebranded, “Tesla Model Y.”
By the time Musk published the story in 2017, he had only five Tesla models on the planet. The Model Y’s top-selling car, the Model S, is now the world’s largest electric car.
